Rocku Yakiniku, Authentic Japanese Charcoal Grill, Baby Octopus, Smoke Duck and Cold Beer

Rocku has been making its name in both Singapore and Malaysia, famous for its great cuts of meat including beef and pork, what made us visit the place AGAIN, was their seasonal menu.

I mean where else can we find things like baby octopus (ok , maybe can la, but hard also) smoke duck and pork tongue! I had to admit the first two was normal ‘seasonal items’ but pork tongue? I definitely had my own reservations for that.

And well here they are …..

As you can see the flame from the Charcoal Grill! This is how Authentic BBQ should be!

So, enough with the seasonal trials and back to the main menu. One thing which i respect ROCKU is their quality cuts, their beef and pork cuts is currently second to none in terms of quality. (However as we all know quality sometimes fluctuates, the second time i went there the bacon was gorgeous but the beef contracted skinny disease and was as thin as paper, still good though, but first time was better!)

Just look at the marbling on this rib eye steak, not only is the meat tender and juicy it literally melts in your mouth.

The pork bacon is also another of their stand out dishes with their signature sauce. The cut of pork lard is used to oil the grill before the bbq starts.

3 choices for seafood, scallops with their signature sauce was another stand out!

Of course theres the normal vegetarian option, one stand out dish is their mushrooms, specifically THEIR ENOKI MUSHROOMS. One small trick, they take up space in the grill, so don’t grill two many at once, just two at the side is good enough (like int he picture)  …. eat the expensive stuff first.

Salad Bar

Special Mention goes to their salad and appetizers bar! The fried chicken wings (if they have it, sadly they didn’t have it the second and third time i went ) is really good! Definitely main course worthy in some other restaurants.

Lastly you will ask, whats so special about Rocku compared to others? There are 2 answers, firstly they have a buy 1 free 1 beer promo right now.

Secondly, they have life band during lunch and dinner hours, and apparently Magic Show on friday nights (sadly we have never been there on friday nights so we can’t verify to this)

live bands for us to enjoy whilst we dine. The singers are magnificent too!
